About

Education becomes fun when you can see the application of concepts in your life. As a tutor and teacher, I make the effort to tie the learning material into everyday situations. This enhances the learning experience and helps students remember concepts.

I graduated with a B.S. in Chemistry Education and have taught and tutored K-12 and college students for over three years.

I am patient and kind, and I am especially effective in one-on-one settings when I can personalize the learning to your needs. I would love to help you succeed in your educational goals and look forward to working with you!

I find satisfaction in teaching when the student has the AHA! moment - when they come to a more complete understanding of the content, and they are motivated to learn more. This is when learning become fun for both teacher and pupil.

Frequently asked questions

First, it is important to obtain a baseline for what the student knows. I measure this by giving a pretests, working on homework problems, or with some pointed questions about concepts they need to know.

After obtaining that baseline of knowledge, I start to teach the new material. Education is always more interesting when the learner sees the applications in their life, so I use everyday examples to personalize the learning to each student. I strongly encourage questions and frequently check with the student to ensure that they are understanding the material.

Next, I have the student practice the new content through homework problems through many different means - the more correct practice, the better!

I evaluate the student's understanding and growth in several ways, depending on the individual: some examples are asking the student to re-teach the material to me, defining pertinent terms in their own words, and/or working on more challenging problems that combine different concepts.

Finally, I review past lessons with the student to reinforce what they have learned. I ensure that their hard work doesn't go to waste.

I graduated from BYU in 2019 with a B.S. in Chemistry Education. In earning my degree, I student-taught at Westlake High School, where I taught General, Honors, and CE Chemistry. I taught 8th Grade Science at Utah Military Academy, and I worked as a Math Paraprofessional at Entheos Academy in 2021. I also held a Utah Teaching License for three years in Chemistry and Middle School Science. Since 2020, I have tutored students in Chemistry and various Math classes.

I charge $35/hr for 1-on-1 tutoring.

I have worked with a diverse group of students. When I taught at Westlake High School, I taught the many high-performing students. At Utah Military Academy, I worked with many students who had 504s and IEPs. As a Math Paraprofessional at Entheos, I gained worked primarily with students who had learning disabilities.

However, I learned that even with all these different students, one thing remains the same - learning is more effective when the teacher can personalize the material and make it "come alive" for students.

If a student is considering hiring a tutor, I would tell them to find a tutor who is willing to go the extra mile and spend more time with the student if needed. This is a sign that the tutor cares more about the student than the paycheck, and that genuinity will go far with young learners.
