About
I am an elementary school teacher working with high risk students. I am passionate about helping my students get to be where they need to be and watching their progress on a daily basis. I focus on differientiated instruction and time tested routines with phonics and reading fluency. I have educating students for 30 years and have worked with students with special needs and English Language Learners. I have a BA in Early Elementary Education and a teaching credential from the state of Utah.
I enjoy working with students and seeing the "light" go on. My students are excited to learn and I am excited to teache them!

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to first meet the student and get to know them, what their interests are and let them get to know me. I try to get children comfortable with me and let them do a little job interview about me and how I can help them.
I then assess the student, based on what their academic needs are from both academic performance and what their parents tell me. As I assess, I make notes and focus on where I see a deficit. I use a lot of positive reinforcement to help guide the students performance.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a BA in Early Elementary Education and teaching credential from the state of Utah. I am a first grade teacher in the Salt Lake area and teach in a school with high risk students.
