About
Do you or your student need a little help catching up after COVID? Do you have that one subject that you just can't seem to get a handle on? I can help!
A licensed teacher with 8 years experience (and an Outsanding Teacher award from my district), I have loved tutoring others since I was in grade 11. I love finding new ways to help people understand and help them "break through" that barrier to their learning! I will bring my experience to work for you, pulling from my diverse bag of tricks to help you learn and retain information.
I have experience with a variety of ages, with specialties in Kindergarten, 3rd, 5th and 6th grades. Not only do I know what your student should learn this year, but I know where they've been and where they are going. I can help fill in foundational gaps, provide extra support or even provide an extra challenge for students who need an extension to their current subject.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
If you have something particular you need to work on, we will dive right in! If I find a particular method is too tricky for you, we'll switch it up until we find a way that works for you!
If you're needing generalized help, I'll often ask for a recent report card so that I can see where your strengths and weaknesses are. If we don't have that, I can assess your needs. We'll start at your level and explore from there!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education, plus 8 years of teaching.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
My pricing system tends to be flexible depending on the needs of the student and the student's work ethic. Typically looking for 15-20 dollars for an hour session.
How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching my tutoring! My Chemistry professor in high school was very difficult to understand with lots of straight reading assignments. I worked with a few of my peers to help them understand the concepts, and I found that I loved teaching!
What types of students have you worked with?
Every age of kid K-8, as well as some Jr High tutoring.
I've also worked with students on the spectrum (mostly high functioning), and students for whom English is not their primary language.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Look for someone who is willing to take the time and make sure that you understand what you are doing, rather than looking for someone to give you an easy answer. Additionally, look for a teacher who can give you a few options or tricks to help you understand/remember rather than just sticking to one way of doing things.
