About

Hello! My name is Nathan Maxfield. I am currently a student in ASU's History M.A. program. I graduated from BYU in 2022 with a B.A. in History and minors in Spanish and Latin American Studies. I have four years of experience teaching and tutoring history, Spanish, English, test prep, and writing, including two years of experience as a full time classroom instructor.

I am extremely passionate about all the subjects I tutor, which is why I am working towards a career as a professor of history - where literature, culture, and language meet. I aim for my students to go beyond just academic success and discover a similar passion in themselves.

Frequently asked questions

On the first meeting I always begin by asking questions to determine what the student needs to learn and what their current level of knowledge is. All my instruction is on a personal basis and every meeting I discuss student's progress, goals, and challanges with them.

I have been tutoring history professionally since I was a senior in high school and am currently a Junior at Brigham Young University with a History major.

I do not currently have a standard pricing system for my lessons. Pricing will be conditional on driving distance as well as length and frequency of tutoring sessions. Contact me if you would like to discuss pricing, I am very open to negotiation.

My first experience teaching was as a voulnter tutor for my high school and soon after I was hired by parents to tutor their children. I am currently studying to be a university professor.

My main students are high school age in both AP and regular history and government classes but I am willing to work with students of any age.

What are your long term goals; just to get a good grade in the current class or preparing for further education? What are my strengths and weaknesses in the class? (i.e. Writing, Reading Comprehension, Memorization, etc.)
