Biology Tutoring
About
I scored in the 98th percentile on the Dental Admission Test (DAT) and 99.9 percentile on the Biology section. I recently graduated UVU with a BS in Biology with hundreds of hours of tutoring and lab experience. I made the Dean's List for seven semesters and have been working in a cancer research lab for over two and a half years. I have been teaching anatomy at UVU for almost a year, and I love anything having to do with the human body. I can tutor anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, biochemistry, developmental biology, genetics, microbiology, molecular biology, cell biology, and all general biology courses.
I have been tutoring students at UVU for close to a year. I love helping students make it click and see how everything is connected. I believe that every student is incredibly smart, but knowing how to study effectively is essential to increasing knowledge. I have spent four and a half years figuring out what works best and understanding each student's unique studying pattern is extremely important to make it stick.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I would like to know what help is needed (course material, assignments, homework, etc.) and for what biology class. I also need to know when the student is available for tutoring.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Bachelor of Science in Biology from UVU with a 3.91 Biology GPA.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
The exact prices depend on the class, but the typical pricing is below:
-$40/hr for one student
-$60/hr for two students
$75/hr for three students
How did you get started teaching?
As I started my studies at UVU, I realized that biology was something that I really enjoyed. My passion for science only continued to grow as I furthered my education and began to tutor for anatomy in 2021.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have mainly worked with college students at UVU, but I'm beginning to branch out to other schools in Utah Valley.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I mentor kids in the 4H Youth Mentoring Program. A few weeks ago we went to the dinosaur museum and it was so fun to see them get so excited over what they saw! They already knew so much about fossils, evolution, and dinosaurs and it blew me away!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
It is important to find a tutor that has recent experience in whatever material is being taught.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
I think students should never be afraid to talk to teachers about their needs. This can help manage expectations for the student, and let the teacher know that additional help is needed.
