About
I have been teaching technology off and on for twenty years and it's been the most rewarding times in my career!
Are you struggling to understand computing concepts or finding ways to gain more experience? I'd love to help.
I have taught computing concepts ranging from operating systems (Linux, FreeBSD) to programming (Python, PHP, shell scripting) and from databases (MySQL) to cybersecurity concepts.
Beyond teaching these concepts at three different Universities I have also spent time working in the field as a developer, devops engineer, sysadmin, software architect and government contractor. I've seen tech at companies large and small!
Finally, I have created and published multiple open source projects that have been used around the world. I would love to share my experience with you and help you achieve your goals.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I typically first spend time with a new student to get to know their interests and knowledge level. From there we can focus together on improving toward the student's goals.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have twenty years experience in the field and a number of cybersecurity certifications including A+, Network+, Security+, Project+, CySA+ and Pentest+. I have worked in software development, devops and cloud security.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
$50 per one hour session.
$75 for ninety minutes.
How did you get started teaching?
I got started teaching very young. As the oldest of seven children I often found myself teaching the smaller ones the things I learned. This skill only improved as I grew older and began traveling the country teaching and certifying students.
I've now taught these topics through three different Universities and hope to continue.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have primarily worked with young adults and older adults interested in continuing their education.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I spent this past summer exploring the western united states in my camper. In 2022 I spent 50 nights on the road across 7 states. I 2023 I spent 90 nights across 8 states and in 2024 I hit the road full-time! A highlight of that adventure was joining and documenting (as photographer) the longest barefoot walk in history!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Find a teacher that is capable of explaining complex ideas in simple terms. Years of experience and technical knowledge only go so far if you can't articulate these ideas in ways students can understand.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
I recommend writing down your questions ahead of time to ensure you can clearly articulate them. This allows you to work out your question first, leaving more time to discuss solutions with your tutor later. Additionally, sometimes clearly writing out the problem helps your brain understand the pieces and you're able to solve it on your own!
