Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I love to get to know the people that I teach and their reasons to learn in order to adapt my lessons according to the unique learning style of each student and their previous knowledge. I also like to set the rules of the learning process and get to know the student's expectations.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a bachelors degree in economics and an associates degree in accounting but I am a native Spanish Speaker with experience as an English student. I love to teach, prepare lessons and tutoring ever since I can remember. I have done it as a volunteer and I also worked in a school with kids ages 8 to 17
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I charge $14 by the hour.
How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching lessons as a religious minister for peoples of all ages in different assignments and I have taught Spanish to members of my family. I decided later in my life that I could do it as a profession.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have tutored math for high school students and have taught accounting as a teacher from elementary school to the last year in high school and I also teach to church members of all ages and nonmembers in a proselyting mission.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Look for a person that can offer the right balance of personalized attention, patience, practical activities, positive encouragement and somebody who can make learning fun through a variety of engaging and outside-the-box activities. I also recommend a teacher that is a native speaker of the language who can explain the culture and not just the language.
