Free Expression - Tapping Into Creative Writing
About
Free Expression is a huge believer in the benefits of mastering English. However, we feel many students don't develop a love for it, because they are stuck writing strictly "academic" papers. There should be more to writing than persuasion, and information. There should be enjoyment, excitement, and creativity. This is where Free Expression comes in. Both of us founders are currently receiving our Bachelor of Science degree in English, specializing in creative writing. Between the two of us we've had poetry pieces published in magazines, shorts stories created, and countless hours of free expression work written and revised. Because we love what we do, we want to help young minds find their passion. Let us help your child put their mind on paper.
I love to see the different ideas for stories people have floating around in their minds. Everybody sees the world so differently and it's great to help writings come to life that let people understand each other's views just a little bit better.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
We arrange a time to meet, whether in person or over technology, and then we meet!
Our first meeting will be developing some goals, or seeing what we want to get out of the tutoring experience.
Then we shape the cirriculum to meet our needs, and start writing!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Honors English 4.0 all through High School.
Currently in progress - BS in Creative Writing English.
Multiple magazine published pieces.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Typically $20 a session. Exeptions can be made. A session lasts anywhere from 20 minutes-1 hour. I don't charge by time, I charge by content.
How did you get started teaching?
Someone mentioned I had a gift and that I should share it, so here I am!
What types of students have you worked with?
Mainly Elementary-Middle School students.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I finished a fantasy book that's been in process for a year, and I'm just about to the publishing of it. So exciting!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
In creative writing there's no "write or wrong" (haha get it?), but there is a better. Whoever you choose should push you to create clearer ideas, move past the common themes and into your own creative territory, and last but not least, help keep the passion for writing alive inside of you.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
1. Any specifics they have about an ongoing project they need help with. I have a cirriculum, so unless you bring up your question, we may not fall upon the answer naturally.
2. Anything else you can think of!
