About

I love tutoring! When a student has a "light-bulb" moment, it gives me an incredible feeling of accomplishment. I have been tutoring for over 10 years, at every level from elementary school through college. I started when I was in college, working for the Economics Department of my university as a tutor. I have also tutored privately, and worked for private tutoring companies. In addition to tutoring math from Arithmetic through Calculus, I tutor Economics and SAT/ACT preparation.

Jenny has been working with my son with high school calculus and now college calculus. She has done an amazing job at helping him understand it and in building his confidence. He has done well since we started using her a year ago and will continue to! I highly recommend Jenny for tutoring! Thank you so much Jenny!!!!

    Frequently asked questions

When working with a new student, I think it's important to determine what their current skill level is and where they want to wind up. With math, it's very important to shore up the basics before attempting to learn new material. Without the proper foundation, it's impossible to be successful.

I have a Bachelor's of Science in Economics with a minor in Math. I have nearly 10 years of professional tutoring experience.

My hourly rate varies depending on the topic, but I offer the first hour for half price so that we can make sure we are a good fit with a lower risk to you. I also offer a free hour if you refer another student to me who completes at least five hours of tutoring with me.

I first tutored math when I was in junior high, so it's always been something I've had an affiinity for. I started doing tutoring professionally when I was completing my college degree. The on campus tutoring lab for my major contacted me based on recommendations from professors I had had classes with and offered me a tutoring job.

I've worked with a wide variety of students, from elementary school through college and from student struggling to keep up to those looking for enrichment when the school curriculum wasn't challenging them enough.

My advice to a student looking to hire a math tutor is to make sure that the tutor is able to explain things until they make sense to you. There is more than one way to approach many math problems, and your tutor should be able to offer you an explanation that helps you thoroughly understand what to do.

Students should think through what their specific goals are. What is it you want to get out of tutoring? Do you want to improve your grades? Your study skills? Prepare for a future test or class? How much time are you willing to devote to those goals, both with your tutor and on your own between lessons? What are you looking for in a tutor?
