Hello! My name is Brice, and I specialize in tutoring writing strategies and mentoring college and scholarship applicants. There are millions of ways to say the same thing––which phrase is the one for you? We can figure this out together!
My experience began in 2018 when I was awarded The Gates Scholarship (TGS) for attendance at Baylor University to pursue degrees in Piano Performance and Business Administration. Each year since, I have mentored selected students from summer programs such as the Young Leaders Summit, the College Key Foundation, and The Gates Scholarship Summer Institute. I have also worked on my own, mentoring students in need of writing advice or guiding them completely through the process! So far, my past students have a 100% acceptance rate to accredited institutions or careers, with most earning a "full-ride" scholarship (to top 50 colleges!) in the process. Some of these scholarships include The Gates Scholarship, The Coca-Cola Scholarship, Voice of Democracy, QuestBridge National College Match, and more.
Of course, working with so many individuals who are so different from each other is a great joy to me. I love seeing progress, even when its minute!

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Writing is a very personal endeavor. I will ask that new students offer any piece of writing that they have to me for reading so I can evaluate where both of us stand in the beginning of the process. This work can be a school essay, a research paper, a job application, professional emails, basically anything to introduce me to your writing voice. Then we will discuss goals, how to meet them, and what processes might be most effective in achieving these goals.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I was a mentor for S.O.S. (Save our Seniors) for two years, I am a first cohort Gates Scholar, I have worked as a mentor for The Gates Scholarship Summer Institute and the Young Leaders Summit, and I was most recently a mentor for the College Key Foundation.
If you like numbers, in high school my ACT English/Writing Score came out as a 35/11, I gained credit through the AP Language exam, and I have taken courses in thinking, reading, writing, and British Literature here at Baylor University.
I am also in the process of authoring a book on the application process. More info to come! However, this database of information is available to my students to help them with their writing and organizational needs.
