About
My name is Donna Ivey, and I am currently enrolled at Mclennan Community College. This year, I will be graduating with my Associates Degree and continuing my studies to receive a Social Work Bachelor’s Degree.
I am well rounded in the areas of study I am able to provide tutoring in, however I am most comfortable with reading and writing, history, and any of the arts. I am capable of tutoring in other areas as well, as long I am made aware of the specific details before tutoring and they are not degree-specific classes.
I, myself, have been a student that has needed to utilize different studying techniques to understand topics, so I am well versed in different ways to study. I am aware that not every mode of learning works for everyone, and I am driven to find ways to help students understand topics they may be struggling with!

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When working with a new student, I plan to look over their material to really understand the problems they are facing. When decifeding these problems, it is then important to understand how the student learns. A student can be a someone who learns visually, by taking notes, by repetition, or other lead hang techniques. Then, after obtaining this information about the student, can we then go into effectively teaching the student information.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have completed all of the required classes for high school, as well as 48 dual credit classes. Not only have a dealt with the strain of upper level courses, but I have also helped classmates learn information as well. Whether that be British Literature or Biology, I have reached out to others that are struggling with information and worked with them to receive better grades.
