Capstone College and Career Advising provides exceptional tutorial services from experienced, uniquley vetted instructors who are experts in their field. Our instructors are specifically trained to teach strategies and all subject matter we also help with the PSAT, SAT, ACT, GME and GMAT. What is your typical process for working with a new student?
We meet one on one helping students work through strategies and practice with mastery of concepts through assessments and evaluation.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Our tutors are uniquly vetted to help students with success. They must pass a rigorous series of assessments to show knowledge and ability in their subject areas.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Our price is $75 per hour for individual one on one tutoring and $599 for our 18 hour ACT/SAT test prep course. Our ACT and SAT Test Prep instruction can be take live on-site in our office or through our unique Virtual Live Classroom experience. we also offer a $99 Test Prep Boot Camp with 6 hours of instruction.
How did you get started teaching?
I started my career in education over 20 years ago as a teacher, coach, principal and head of school. As CEO of Capstone, I now oversee a team of highly qualified tutors.
What types of students have you worked with?
We have worked with low performing students as well as highly gifted students. We have helped students succeed with very low test scores as well as student who end up scoring perfect scores on the ACT and SAT. We have helped students succeed as Natinoal Merit Scholars and assisted students in bringing their scores up to the level for admissions to their top choice college.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
We had a student who took our test prep course and needed assistance with bringing his ACT score up. He had learning dificulties and qualified for accomodations on the ACT exam. After taking our test prep course, he brought his ACT score up by 5 points and received a full ride scholarship to a four year University.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Look for quality over cost. You need results and looking for a discount deal can keep you from reaching your potential and cost you thousands of dollars in scholarship offers.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Develop a good grasp of your strengths and weaknesses in learning and the subject area you are needing help in. This will help the tutor develop a program of success which will maximize your time with them.
