James T. Chase
About
My name is James C. and I have extensive teaching/tutoring experience in a variety of subjects with many age groups. I earned my Bachelor of Arts in English from Texas A&M University in 2009. I am an English Language Arts Certified Teacher for grades 6-12 and I have been an English teacher in the Cy-Fair Independent School District for the past 10 years. Over the course of my teaching career in CFISD, I have taught English I, II, III and IV as well as 7th and 8th grade ELA classes. Each of these classes required curriculum development, lesson planning, professional development and all other classroom teacher responsibilities. I was named Teacher of the Year at my school for my outstanding work in 2014. I have taught at a few different schools in CFISD including, Arnold Middle School, Goodson Middle School, Alternative Learning Center and a high school, where I currently hold and English Interventionist position. After teaching different subjects over the last 15 years I have accumulated a variety of online experience tutoring and teaching classes.
Not only have I taught a variety of subjects to different age groups, but I have also taught in different countries around the world. My first teaching job was actually located in Doha, Qatar as an English teacher at English Modern School. Here, I instructed students from 20+ different nationalities in mixed classrooms. During my time in Doha, I also gained extensive experience tutoring in a 1 on 1 setting and honed my craft of tailoring lessons to fit specific personalities and learning styles.
More recently, I have been teaching preparatory classes for students who are taking the ACT and/or SAT exams for college admissions. Over the past 3 years I have successfully instructed 8 different classes to prepare for their ACT and/or SAT exams. After gaining so much experience preparing students to do well on these important exams, I have gained a deeper understanding of the requirements and expectations these two tests focus on.
