About
Hello Everyone! I have been an educator for 12 years, and I have had the privilege of teaching and learning from so many of my wonderful students. I have taught both high school and college level writing and literature classes as well as Speech and ESL for high schoolers. I work to encourage my students and provide them with a valuable skill set that they can confidently transfer to other assignments or personal goals. It is a privilege to be a teacher, and I look forward to working with you. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out.
I am a life-long learner, and I always learn along with my students. By listening to them, I have the opportunity to become a better teacher. I am grateful for this. I also love the content. Teaching students to be stronger readers, writers, and thinkers is a skillset that helps both in school and in a career. Education has to be practical, and English is that.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Before any tutoring session, I like to speak with my students to set some clear goals for what they need help with. Sometimes students don’t know how to even start an assignment, and in that case helping students brainstorm and talk through ideas is so important. Other times, students need help perfecting their writing and thinking, and this session would involve reviewing good revision strategies and practicing them. Or, a student who is a non-native English speaker, may just want to practice conversation skills. In this case, we usually meet to discuss different contexts that would be most relevant. At all times, standards of academic integrity are upheld.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am certified (7-12) in English, Speech, and ESL, and I have taught college writing and literature courses.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Pricing will vary depending on time and content.
How did you get started teaching?
I started tutoring when I was in college, and I continued teaching throughout my graduate career and after. I discovered early that it was something I loved, and I knew that it was a career I wanted to invest in.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students from all over the world and from all walks of life. I have taught students who just arrived to the United States, great-grandmothers who decided to go back to school, professionals trying to grow their resume, and traditional students eager to learn each day.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I always love seeing people encourage one another and be kind to one another. While people are stressed and overwhelmed with everything going on in the world, it is so nice to see people help one another in the grocery store, or smile at one another in public places. This may seem simple, but having a joyful disposition, smiling and being kind even if things may be hard, is so important.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I would look for a teacher who has the experience in the subject and who works to encourage his/her students. It is also essential to work with a tutor you can establish a rapport with. Being able to communicate learning goals, and ask questions is so important in the learning process.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
1. What are my immediate questions with this assignment and task?
2. What larger learning goals do I have for my tutoring sessions?
3. What are some ways that I can continue to practice using the tools I learn from my session?
