My son has a learning disability and Hope has been able to teach him in a way that is understandable to him. She is doing a great job. Thanks Hope.

  • Tyler Sheppard

She was very thorough during the lesson and made sure to answer all my questions.

She's been working with my 11yr daughter, to help her with middle school Math, she's very patient and knowledgeable and flexible when we need extra time or move a class due to other activities. Highly recommended.

She was able to make everything make sense. When we were done I actually understood what I was doing not just following a set of standard rules. I will definitely use her again and recommend to my friends.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

The first tutoring session is typically used to get to know the student and their learning style. Everyone learns differently, so I adjust my strategies and tutoring to fit each individual.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I am a private tutor at Texas State Univeristy and I am majoring in Mathematics with a double minor in Spanish and Business Administration. I have 3 years of experience.

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

I typically charge $15/hour.

How did you get started teaching?

I have always loved learning and I wanted to share this passion with others. I started tutoring in high school and I absolutely loved it.

What types of students have you worked with?

I have worked with a wide range of ages. I have worked with elementary students all the way to college students. I often helped my younger sister learn her school curriculum. She has dyslexia so I found ways to help her understand.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?

Look for someone who is passionate about tutoring and has experience. These tutors know different techniques and are always ready to help.

What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?

Which subjects do you need help with, what topics in that subject, in particular, do you struggle with the most, and what have you already tried.
