San Antonio Math Tutor Rebecca V
About
I understand that not everybody is comfortable with the subject so I make every effort to speak to my students in a manner they can understand and learn the necessary terminology over time with patience and compassion. I carry modeling clay, paper, scissors, markers, transparancies... anything to help students see and understand the concepts. I always try to remember the struggles and emotions I encountered during my math education so that I can empathize with my students and respect their fears and individual needs. I also believe that the only way to understand math is to put in the time and make mistakes, so I will never give up on or loose patience with a student that shows good work ethic and continues to try.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I will give each student a chance to take the lead, but many times students will not know how to explain what they need. In those cases I will ask to look over some of their classwork or test results. It usually only takes a few minutes to get an idea of what the student needs.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics. I was a high school math teachers for several years. I have been a private math tutor for 8 years.
