About
Does your student feel frustrated learning new concepts? Do they have a problem focusing on assignments? Does it just not make sense? I introduce new concepts with creative ideas that work just for you.
I have taught all ages and recognize every student has their own learning process. We will find it together!
I am a retired university instructor and middle school teacher. I have been privately tutoring for over nine years.
I have experience with ADHD and other SPED learning situations. I have a M.A., M.Div., and M.A.E. I am a mother of four and grandmother of eight.
Learning should be an adventure, not frustrating.
I often struggled as a student and my experience helps me relate to my students.
My favorite thing about teaching is seeing a student’s eyes light up when they 'get it'. I want students to be successful and confident.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Since we are in this together, I want learn about the student; not just what they like or dislike about the work. We will discuss their goals and how to achieve them.
I include the text from their school and choose from the resources I have found that work well. This includes worksheets, puzzles and games and more that are specific to the subject or task. I also create individual handouts for the students to keep and refer to when needed.
The session is designed for your child’s best learning opportunity; not the same for everyone. What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a retired teacher and have been tutoring elementary and middle school for over eight years
I also work with high school and college students.I have a dual BAs and multiple Masters Degrees; one is a Masters in Education.
I have worked with students with learning disabilities, such as ADHD and forms of Dyslexia.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I charge $35 per hour. Sometimes we aren’t done in 60 minutes…if we go over I do not charge extra. My students can call or text me if they have a question between tutoring sessions (no charge).
How did you get started teaching?
Learning was exciting for me as a child, however too often it was frustrating and at times I struggled. I found I did my best with my teachers that were patient and passionate about teaching and I try to imitate their examples. I want students to look forward to learning and accomplishing something new. They can’t do that if they are lost in the lesson or embarrassed in class. I give them the tools to improve and achieve!
