Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I first need to assess the student. For example, I will have them provide a writing sample or I'll listen to them read and then discuss. I will also ask the parent if there are any concerns at the time. Once I have an initial assessment, I will develop learning goals for the student and we will work from there.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I worked in public education for 13 years, most of it teaching English. I taught students at all levels, from those who struggle to those who need more challenge. I know how to differentiate to meet their needs and peak their interest. I have a Master's of Arts in Education with a focus on curriculum and instruction. I have developed curriculum and assessment at the district level.
