About this tutor

I customize lesson plans for each student based on the student's style of learning and I place a strong emphasis on filling out any gaps that the student may have from a previous year as soon as possible.( Particularly during Covid times when learning was basically non existent during the last school year ).

Tutoring to me is a joint effort of the student , parent's support and the tutor . I always maintain an open communication with parents and keep them well informed of the student's progress on a frequent basis .

Students achieve excellent results in a short period of time with me and there is a reason why I have a solid reputation in the area.

**PLEASE NOTE . I do NOT teach children under the age of 12 and NO adults lessons ( unless is college related )

The greatest joy of tutoring so many students of all types of backgrounds is witnessing not only the improvement with their grades , but also seeing students develop confidence with the language. I have countless stories of students who continued with learning of the language well beyond their highschool years.  I also maintain an excellent relationship with all of my students and their families.  Students are my second family.

Sra. Forster was my Spanish tutor from 2012-2014. During this time I was taking AP Spanish Language and AP Spanish Literature. In order to get better at the speaking aspect of Spanish, I got in touch with Sra. Forster, as I did not have any native Spanish speakers in my immediate friends/family circle. My experience with Sra. Forster helped me achieve my goals of scoring well on my AP exams, and ensuring that I had a solid understanding of written and verbal Spanish. To this day, I am able to read and write in Spanish. I would highly recommend Sra. Forster for students interested in furthering their Spanish beyond what is required for class and for those who need help with learning the fundamentals. Sra. Forster is very enthusiastic and upbeat in her teaching style and I would highly recommend her as a tutor and teacher.

She understood the syllabus and requirements of several local schools that offered Spanish at various levels, and was able to tailor the needs of my child to those requirements.

Best tutor ever! Mrs. Forster tutored my son for HS Honors Spanish 2 and TTU Spanish 3. Mrs.Forster is passionate about teaching, always accessible, encouraging, and very professional. She takes a systematic, organized, efficient approach to helping students master required skills, starting by identifying gaps in knowledge. She made a personalized study plan and taught from multiple textbooks and worksheets. She also reviewed essays and speaking assignments. After my son enrolled, TTU revised and expanded the scope and difficulty of its Spanish 3 course - thankfully, Mrs Forster was able to accommodate this. Student was always prepared for tests and on-track with learning. As a parent, I could not be more impressed with her skill as a tutor.

Ms. Forster has been tutoring my 14yr old since early this year. She has been a great tutor. My daughter's grades have improved and she feels confident. More than that she has been very accomodating with class time especially my child being in Band and has a very busy schedule. She plans the lessons well and is very involved and has been super supportive of our childs needs.

FAQs

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

I like to meet with the student first via zoom for 20 minutes ( free of charge )so we can get to know each other and for me to do an informal diagnosis of the student's level to assess any gaps that the student may have and create a plan of improvement with reasonable timelines.

*After that complimentary meeting , I give my feedback to both the student and the parent.

**I do NOT teach adults(only if it is College level Spanish ). I teach middle school , highschool and college level .

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have a Bachelors degree as well as a Master's degree( MBA)

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

Yes $60 for 50 minutes ( plus an additional 10 minutes outside of the session to create a customized homework for the student on a weekly basis and revising the student's Hmwk after completion a day before our class ).  This is for Spanish 3 & Spanish 4 in high school.

$50 for 50 minutes of zooming ( I revise the homework during our zoom meeting). For Spanish level 1 and 2 only

How did you get started teaching?

I started teaching and tutoring Spanish since I was a college student 30 yrs ago. Teaching Spanish to Executives of major U.S. corporations in Houston and law firms
Then later on in life after I had 2 wonderful daughters, I decided to be a stay at home mom and during my spare time I started tutoring and teaching middle school , highschool and college students since 20 years ago.

What types of students have you worked with?

I have worked with ALL types of students from diverse backgrounds that attend both public schools and private schools.

I have taught on a part time basis at prestigious private high schools in the Seattle area and I have tutored ALL levels of Spanish in Illinois, California, Washington State and Texas.

Describe a recent event you are fond of.

I started in September tutoring a student that is taking Spanish 2 at a private Christian school. When I started tutoring the student , he was failing tests.  After 2 months of tutoring him on a biweekly basis , the student is getting scores of 90 and above on every single assessment and being able to understand and form complex sentences.  As a tutor, there is no greater joy than seeing a student have such a dramatic improvement in such a short period of time under my guidance and with their hard work !!!

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?

Confirm the years of experience that the tutor has. Talk to his/ her previous students and parents. But most importantly, confirm that the tutor is a native speaker .
