I am currently a 5th grade teacher, and have experience working with all kinds of learners. I am comfortable with elementary content and grade level standards. I can help your kiddo close gaps and get back on track, or help challenge your kids to help them get ahead.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I typically start by trying to build a relationship with the student. I have found students are more likely to work with someone they like, and care about. After that, I try to gauge where the student is at by testing what they already know. I will then use that information to teach a skill step by step using a gradual release of responsibility to the student until they are able to solve independently!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Bachelor's degree in Elementary and Special Education. I have also been teaching 5th grade for two years now. In my classroom I do a majority of my teaching in a small group so that students can get individualized attention and assistance when working with a new skill. I am also comfortable with assessing for student gaps and making idividualized plans to get students caught up.
