As a Texas certified teacher with a Master of Bilingual Education degree from Southern Methodist University and a Bachelor of Science degree from Texas Woman's University, I have enjoyed two decades of helping students break the code. I find great satisfaction in helping students become lifetime readers.
SUBJECTS I teach: ESL, Writing, Reading Intervention (includes phonics, reading comprehension skills, vocabulary development, and fluency) and STAAR test preparation. BILINGUAL: I am proficient in English and Spanish.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When I get a new student, I will assess their reading level, vocabulary level, and comprehension level.
I will assess your student formally and informally: I will customize a specific plan of attack for your child. Customization is a continuous process. Because online tutoring allows for quick adjustments during the lesson, the growth can be significant. Intervention is a long term plan: a worthwhile investment. I can't wait to partner with you on this journey.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Master of Bilingual education from Southern Methodist University and a Bachelor of Science from Texas Woman's university. I have been a reading tutor for 20+ years.
Due to the pandemic, my students moved from in-person tutoring to online tutoring. My teaching and tutoring experience helped me to reconnect with my student's online. The transition from in-person to online tutoring has been seamless. I now tutor exclusively online over Zoom.

I have a standard price of $60 per hour for all students.

I was always actively teaching students in my church, and I decided to pursue a teaching career.

Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Recently, when assessing my students at the end of the year, I had a student make a two grade level gain in three months. This student has been exclusively online.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I would ask for their systematic approach, and would ask for an example of how they have customized lessons for their students.
