About
Hello, perhaps I can help!
I have a knack for identifying students' major gaps in understanding. My unique approach helps them see meaningful patterns in the classroom explanations and practice that have left them scratching their heads.
I have helped many students to get back on track in Spanish, often for a somewhat intensive session during the summer and winter breaks. Commonly students' grades begin to suffer noticeably well after getting off track.
I also specialize in preparing 'shaky' and anxious students for 2nd-year and 3rd-year Spanish.
Many parents see a Spanish tutor as someone who can provide homework help, but once someone has fallen behind in Spanish, homework help is usually not enough. My students and their parents recognize the need to step back to clarify foundational misunderstandings, and trust me to make a plan for success.

MOST RECENT ENDEAVOR
Founder of TEKS128 and Lead Facilitator
Based in Austin, Texas, TEKS128 is a recently-formed educational coalition developing and providing innovative methods and materials for improved Spanish-language literacy.
We are proud to be a new member of the Great Austin Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
We primarily aim to fill the gaps often present in 1st- and 2nd- generation Spanish-speaking adults (also known as 'heritage' speakers) here in Texas. However, the reading and writing of anyone who speaks or is learning to speak Spanish will benefit from our materials and workshops, including native Spanish-speaking monolingual children and adults.
Together, our small team has over three decades of experience in Spanish-language education.
Our name comes from the Texas Education Agency's standards for monolingual Spanish-speaking natives in elementary school: Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills, Chapter 128.
Please join us at our first public workshops, which will be repeated several times this summer: Spanish-Speaking Professionals: WRITTEN ACCENTS MATTER and Elementary Teachers: Novel Approaches to TEKS 128 that Make a Difference!
