Elementary School Tutoring
About
I was a bilingual PK to Fourth Grade ( EC-4th) Texas Certified teacher for thirteen years. Currently, I test students to participate in the process of determining if there is a need for special education services. As a licensed specialist in school psychology, I miss being involved in the teaching side of education, supporting students, and supporting them to reach their maximum potential. I enjoy applying what I learned as a teacher and as an LSSP to supporting students in their learning.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First, I speak with the parent about their child's specific needs, how they are performing at school, ask to review work samples if possible, and ask what feedback the parent has received from their teacher. Then I meet the student and assess which areas their learning may have gaps in. Finally, I ask the student about what they are currently learning at school and their interests to incorporate these into lessons.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I graduated with a BA in psychology in 1995. After working in the Harris County Early Intervention program for about one year, I decided to pursue teaching. I completed the Region IV Alternative Certification Program in 2003 and worked in the classroom as a bilingual PRe-Kindergarten, Kindergarten, Third, and Fourth grade teacher. One year, I taught on the English side of a Kindergarten Dual Language program (Reading, ELA, and Writing). In 2017 I decided to pursue my master's to become a Licensed Specialist in School Psychology so I could learn more about how to identify why students struggle with learning. Currently I work full time as an LSSP.
