About
As a student that once struggled through public school and has since excelled in university, I understand how frustrating it can be to not quite understand assignments or lessons. I believe that students need one-on-one time to learn and fully understand concepts. I am prepared to support students to help them achieve their goals.
I have a BS in Psychology and Marketing, as well as a AA in Social and Behavioral Sciences. I am graduating in the top 10% of my class with honors at University of Houston-Clear Lake this Decemeber.
I am passionate about education and the opportunities it brings to students. I am the first in my family to earn a college degree so I understand the importance of grades, learning, and establishing study habits that can help students in life after schooling.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First, I want to get to know the student and their opinions and attitude about the subject we are working on. I will also ask questions to learn how the teacher is presenting the material in the classroom to understand what more the student needs to succeed.
Once we have established a few basics, I like to start with making some goals. I want to know what the student would like to get out of tutoring. If we can accomplish those goals and more by the end of a session then I know we are on the right track to learning.
My process in tutoring varies from student to student based on what they need. I understand that not every student learns in the same way and I am prepared to accommodate my lessons to their learning style.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
- BS in Psychology and Marking from University of Houston-Clear Lake
- Graduating in top 10% of my class with honors
- AA in Social and Behavioral Sciences from San Jacinto Community College
- Writing, reading, editing, and grammar is a passion. I have been offered publication on several occasions and am currently writing two works of fiction. Creative writing and essays (APA and MLA) are a strength.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Pricing may reflect distance traveled. A general price point for my services is $16-$20 an hour. I prefer that we agree upon a projected total amount of sessions on my first visit.
How did you get started teaching?
I have been teaching in preschools and after school programs for several years. I am currently employed at the YMCA of Greater Houston working with children. I wanted another way to support children in our community.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have experience working with children of all ages and backgrounds. From children learning how to write to students in high school working on a creative writing project.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Look for a teacher that makes you excited to learn. You know when you have a fantastic teacher when you can't wait for your next tutoring session!
