About
I like my tutoring to be a pleasant experience for the student, where they decide which of their needs must be addressed first. I acknowledge every student’s situation is unique, and I aspire to guide them accordingly.
Teaching is a noble exercise. Walking with the students while they achieve their goals is highly gratifying.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
In our first session, I like to start by learning about the student, their previous or current Spanish experience, and their general proficiency level. We determine the student's specific needs and the goals they want to achieve. Based on that, we design a plan of action to accomplish the desired results. The student is free to set the lessons' pace and request any aspects of the language they want to focus on.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I taught Spanish in Mexico for 17 years; I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Secondary Education, concentration in Spanish, from Escuela Normal Superior de Tamaulipas. I hold a Master of Arts Spanish degree from The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. I am currently a Ph.D. student in Latin-American literature at the University of Houston, focusing on creative writing in Spanish.

How did you get started teaching?
I started back in Mexico. I come from a family of teachers; it is natural for me to think about the opportunity to share about the language I know and love.
What types of students have you worked with?
Youth and adults.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I recently took my wife and kid on a short trip. We enjoyed four days in a tiny house with a small pond, surrounded by pine trees. We spent most of the days outdoors like we had not been able to do in the past year. We had a great time and made lots of lovely memories from this quick vacation.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Learning a language should not be a burdensome experience but an enjoyable one. Choose a teacher not only by their degree or credentials but also by their ability to make you feel confident and empowered while learning.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
How can this teacher help me explore the language according to my specific needs? What do I want to master at the end of this tutoring? What specific goals do I want to set, and how soon do I want to reach them?
