About
With a background in education and multiple years of experience working as a teacher, I have a wealth of knowledge in how to teach students of all ages and abilities.
After graduating from Texas State University with a Bachelor's degree in Education, I worked as a Special Education teacher at an elementary school in Hutto ISD. I now work as a middle school teacher in Hays ISD. I am certified in working with ESL students and students with disabilities such as learning disabilities, autism, just to name a few.
I am currently pursuing my Master's degree at UT Austin.
I love being able to make connections with my students and show them that learning can be enjoyable. It is amazing to see their confidence build as their academic skills improve.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When I begin working with a student, I spend some time getting to know them and listening to anything they wish to share with me about the academic goals they have for themselves.
After I get a strong sense of the student's strengths, areas of growth, and interests, I create individualized lesson plans that best fit the student's current level and provide the appropriate amount of challenge to help them learn. I break material down in steps and always try to relate each new topic to previous work completed.
I keep a record of the progress my students make over the sessions so the students can see how they are progressing and so I can tweak my lesson plans and intructional style whenever necessary.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
1. Make sure the teacher has professional schooling/training. Universities teach the most effective and up-to-date methods of teaching.
2. Find a teacher who has experience working with people of different ages and different abilities. They will have the skills to teach you based on your individual strengths and needs.
3. Find a teacher who is kind. Patience and understanding are the most important qualities of a teacher.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
1. What do I do really well? (Doesn't have to just be academic, all strengths are important to mention)
2. What are my areas that need improvement?
3. What would I do if I could do ___ really well? What dreams do you have and why are you striving to get better?
