Frequently asked questions

It is very important for me as a tutor to understand my student's goals and to understand their most effective learning methods.  Encouraging students to become independent learners will help them not only in their current needs but will help them succeed throughout their careers.  Enhancing the learner's ability to develop self-confidence and improve their self-esteem is a major factor in my tutoring.

I have over 14 years of experience teaching at the primary/secondary level, including high school biology and advanced biology.  For the past several years, I have been teaching Staff Development classes, continuing education classes and privately tutoring professional Registered Nurses pursuing their graduate nursing degrees.

My undergraduate and graduate degrees are both from Texas Woman's University where I graduated with a 4.0 GPA.  My undergraduate degree was in Nursing with a minor in Biology, and my graduate degree is in Nursing Education.

My standard tutoring fees are $50/hour.

My teaching experience began with homeschooling my two children from kindergarten through fifth grade.  As my children enter the older grades, I began teaching high school biology and AP biology.  Having earned a graduate degree in nursing, my teaching became more focused on topics related to health care.

I have worked with students ranging from kindergarten to students completing their advanced nursing degrees. Every age has its challenges, as does every subject.  Online learning provides a fantastic opportunity for individuals to be able to earn degrees that they would otherwise not have access to, especially students living in more rural areas.

I recently received an invitation to one of my former student's graduation.  I had been both his instructor and tutor and helped guide him when he decided to change his major to nursing.  This wonderful young man just graduated with his doctorate degree in nursing anesthesia and will be taking the board licensing exam to be a CRNA (Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist) next week.

It is very easy to find tutors, but it is not easy to find a tutor that is passionate about wanting her students to excel and develop a love for whatever they are wanting to accomplish.  Not only identifying areas of weakness and strengths in an individual is important, but also providing encouragement and letting them know that "You can do this!" is equally important.

Whether you should select me or another tutor, find a tutor that puts your interest above everything else, and someone that is willing to go an extra mile to help you.
