About
I am a retired teacher with extensive experience working with elementary-age students. For the past five years, I have provided online tutoring to children between the ages of five and ten, covering all elementary subject areas. I am currently certified by the Texas Education Agency in Reading K-12 and Elementary Education. Tutoring brings me great enjoyment, especially as I see the progress of the students I work with. I recognize that each child develops at their own pace. One of the most rewarding aspects of my work is seeing a student finally understand a concept and successfully incorporate it into their learning. These moments truly make me smile.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to talk to the parent and get to know a little about their child. (i.e. educational needs, hobbies, activities, etc. I also like to talk with the teacher (if a teacher is involved) to make sure we are on the same page. If schoolwork is an issue, dialogue is important between parent, teacher and tutor. I will work to ensure there is ample communication between everyone. My goal is to help students achieve academic success.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been working in the area of reading for many years. I have had the opportunity to teach many struggling readers how to read and I have trained numerous teachers best practices of teaching reading techniques.
