About

I have a passion for Math that I desire sharing with the students that I work with. My goal is, and has been, to get to know the students' strengths and weaknesses; so as to provide the best opportunity for the student to understand not only how to work their Math problems, but also to understand why the strategies work. I began tutoring 6th grade Math at Calvary Baptist Academy in Shreveport, Louisiana in August 2017. I worked with the students during the summer of 2018, and continued tutoring them when they moved into the 7th grade in August 2018. My experience includes both a full year of 6th grade Math tutoring, as well as a full school year of 7th grade Math Tutoring. I have a professional reference with the principal of the school I worked with, and also references with the parents of the students with which I was able to help during those two years. Nothing gives me more pleasure than to give the students I work not only the information needed in order to do well in their work, but also to provide as "fun" a learning experience as can be achieved while working with them.

Nicole Neely was excellent. Very patient and was able to help bring my son’s Math grade up two grade levels. Very sweet.

    Frequently asked questions

When a student comes in, we discuss what assignments are needing to be completed. If no specific work has been assigned, we then discuss what current chapter within the textbook is being taught in the classroom. We will begin working some problems within the chapter; and if I find that there is a trouble spot, we focus on their complete understanding of the types of problems that give them the most issues.

I have some college, working toward a degree in teaching.

The rate of pay I received was $30 per hour, working with the students for one hour each day I saw them.

I began tutoring in the Fall of 2016, at the recommendation of a well-respected teacher at the school I worked with; and was able to secure the position with the principal of the school through the progress that was made with the students.

The personalities of the students I have worked with vary greatly. Some of the students were able to catch on very quickly, and others struggled consistently with understanding the processes for the Math problems. Determination was key to those that struggled the most; positivity from myself toward them as they worked hard; and in turn, positivity of the student because they desire to do well.

It made me ecstatic when my worst struggler passed the final Math exam with a B at the end of the 2017/18 school year! What a dedicated and determined hard worker that student is!!

What basic methods are the hardest to comprehend? This should be the starting point of any session, because Math only builds on itself. If there is a struggling point with the basics, then the subsequent lessons will only become more difficult.
