Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to ask students how they prefer to learn. If they are a visual learner, I like to provide many visual examples. If they prefer taking notes, I can provide many key points and concepts to take a plethora of notes on.
I tailor my tutoring according to the student's needs, so that they can understand content easier.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems
6 Years of Professional IT Experience
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
$20 per 30-minute session, regardless of subject.
How did you get started teaching?
Many peers/coworkers would ask for help with scripts/software, and I eventually transitioned to full-blown classes at my company to teach multiple people at the same time.
What types of students have you worked with?
Other IT Professionals, as well as those looking to enter the IT field
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I recently discovered and fixed a long-standing issue affecting 20,000+ customers. It was so satisfying.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Find a teacher who looks toward the future, and has ambition to improve the field. Find a teacher that values efficiency and accuracy, and doesn't just give a cookie-cutter lession and expects you to retain knowledge.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
If you have needs, then by all means, ask. There is no such thing as a stupid question. The most important part of learning is understanding, and if that means asking 1000 questions, ask away.
