About
My name is Lyn Fitzpatrick, and I specialize in a stong teacher/student relationship which is something that always facilitates learning. I have a very positive approach to teaching Spanish with the objective being to not only speak, read, and write the language, but to develop an appreciation and respect for the Spanish-speaking population.
I am a recently retired Spanish teacher with a Secondary Ed certification from Baylor University, majoring in Spanish and English. I was born and raised in the U.S., but spent four years in Spain when I was a teenager which led me to my love for the language, the people, and the culture of Spanish-speaking people. The results....a very fulfilling career that brought me great joy. My tutoring students, now that I have retired, are an extension of that joy, and I look forward to each session.
If you or your child is taking Spanish now, I am happy to facilitate. If not, my curriculum for Spanish 1 is based on Autèntico, an excellent and very reputable program. I add a variety of resources, videos, etc. to engage my students and encourage them to enjoy the exciting journey of discovering the many advantages of learning any foreign language....with great emphasis on Español!
My favorite teaching experience is seeing the student enjoy being able to communicate in Spanish. The ability to speak any foreign language opens up a whole new world of connectivity and is advantageous on so many levels.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
My first step in the process is to meet either in person or virtually to discuss the needs of the student. I want to get to know them and for them to know me as well. We will decide on the platform for our meetings, whether in person or Zoom meetings and gather other pertinent information regarding our objectives and goals.
