I’m A Musician!
About
Hi! My name is Linda Peoples. I love music and I love helping people become musicians.
I believe if you have the desire to learn ,the willingness to work hard , and a love for music you can become a musician.
I have a Bachelors in Music Education and I have taught music in public schools for 30 years and private lessons even longer. I have taught in Baytown, Klein, Humble, Channelview, Lee College, San Jacinto College and numerous other places throughout the years. I live in Humble at this time.
I approach teaching my students so they will be comfortable and happy but mostly successful with their playing. I learn how each student thinks so that I can provide an appropriate learning style for them. Regular practice along with a willingness to learn coupled with a knowledgeable teacher and students will achieve success.
I teach all ages. Ages 6 through adulthood. The majority of my students are between 6-18. I pick materials suited to the student's level. I also teach music theory along with piano lessons if it is desired. I highly recommend it. Music and theory books can be bought on line.
If you would like a recommendation, I will give you contact information.
I have never taught lessons online until Covid hit us. Now, I teach one on one virtually and it has been highly successful. I also teach in person at my home. Children that are 6 -8 and new to music lessons need to be in person unless they have experience. I have several 8 year olds online but I have taught them for several years in person before the pandemic.I have been vaccinated and I can teach in person or virtually.
My success comes from my students success. I will do everything in my power to help them become successful in music.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
All students learn differently so I try to understand how each student learns and use that knowledge to communicate in a meaningful manner. The first lesson we discover what books and music will be best to begin with. We explore the keyboard. I set expectations though they are easily attainable at the beginning. After they have played awhile the bar is raised. I encourage music theory books with piano but that is optional. Theory helps a student to understand music and not just performing it. Students gain a wealth of knowledge.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Bachelor's degree in music education.
I focus on piano and flute. I can play many other instruments, but these two instruments are what my expertise is in.
I have to say the most helpful training to become a great teacher is teaching. I have taught for over 40 years and my students do very well.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I charge $20.00 for 30 minutes, $30.00 for 45 minutes, and $40.00 for an hour.
I usually teach once a week unless a student is getting ready for a competition. If they want more lessons than once a week I will provide it but the price is the same.
I do not require people to pay for lessons not attended as long as you let me know in advance that you will not be there. I prefer people to pay by the lesson because life is very unpredictable and interruptions happen. That being said, I am very flexible and can reschedule lessons if you need them rescheduled. I prefer to stay on schedule if possible.
