Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Usually I assess where they are, what they're sturggling with the most, and what they've already tried. Kids are smarter than they seem, and have probably already tried tackling a problem. The best way to go from there is build on what they already know.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I'm currently a high school student who's taken (and aced) all accelerated/advanced courses throughout school. I have experience aiding teachers and helping fellow students.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Standard rate is $15/hour.
How did you get started teaching?
What types of students have you worked with?
I've worked with students both older and younger than myself, ranging from those who take shortcuts to those who are very hard-working.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I recently won an award for creating a helpful, prominent club/program called Stugether (STUdents toGETHER) which greatly benefitted many students learn and work together despite their in-person/online learning differences.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Look for someone who understands you and your method of learning. A teacher who's right for you should have the same teaching style as your learning style, or at least be able to adapt to it. Also, find someone who gets your education system. Having experience with your type of school is really helpful.
