Maximus

My name is Maximus, and if there’s one thing people learn quickly when they work with me, it’s that I take learning seriously — not in a strict or intimidating way, but in a way that makes you feel supported, understood, and capable. I’ve always been the person who breaks things down step-by-step, who explains the “why” behind the “what,” and who sticks with you until the moment everything finally clicks.

That started long before I ever tutored anyone formally. When my baby siblings were first learning to read, I’d sit with them on the floor, holding picture books open while they tried to sound out words that felt impossible at their age. I’d tap each letter, exaggerate the sounds, and celebrate every tiny win — every page they managed to read on their own. Those moments taught me patience, clarity, and how to meet someone exactly where they are.

Later, while I was earning my Associate of Science in Computer Programming and working summers in an automotive shop, I found myself tutoring adults who were preparing for their GED. Some were parents working long shifts, some had been out of school for years, and many carried the weight of feeling “behind.” I recognized that same hesitation I’d seen in my siblings, so I approached them the same way: structured, calm, and without judgment. We worked through reading passages, math problems, vocabulary — whatever they needed. Watching grown adults light up when a concept finally made sense is something I’ll never forget.

Because of experiences like these, students working with me can expect someone who is patient, organized, and genuinely invested in their success. I don’t rush people. I don’t make them feel small for not knowing something. I break things down, I explain the logic, and I help them build confidence step-by-step. I’ve helped kids learn their first words and adults earn their diplomas — and I bring that same energy, clarity, and dedication to every student I work with.

That’s why I’ll do an excellent job: teaching isn’t just something I do. It’s something I’ve lived.
