About

Hi, I'm Abby and I am going to be a third-year engineering and chemistry student this year at UT Austin. With some free time this summer, I decided to try and give back to struggling students in the fields of math, chemistry, physics, French, and test prep.

The principal philosophy behind my tutoring sessions is peer learning. As a student myself, I am able to show you the best ways to approach a problem for scholarly success.

Math and science are subjects that have always come easily to me. I regularly encounter math and applied math problems through my engineering courses and got a 800 on both my Math II and Chemistry SAT II Subject Tests.

I have lots of experience working with friends who have struggled in their STEM classes throughout middle school, high school, and the college level.

I am also a fully proficient French speaker and would be able to cater to your language-learning goals, whether that be working on vocab and grammar to conversation and speaking skills.

I am taking differential equations this summer and started to have issues and failed the first exam. I found Abby and noticed improvement quickly and got a B on my second exam. She is nice and takes the time to explain concepts that are complicated to me.

I was really struggling with my college calculus I course and I have met twice with Abby. Abby helps break down difficult problems and makes it easier for me to understand and tackle. I can already feel myself improving, and it feels great after failing last semester.

Frequently asked questions

Before our first tutoring session, I would love to see what types of problems and math subjects you are needing help with to ensure I can best prepare for our session and maximize your learning. I would also like to know the goal you hope to obtain from our tutoring sessions- greater understanding vs. test prep?

My tutoring abilities come from my experiences as a student; I excelled in math from the middle school to university level. I am also a third-year engineering student, encountering math and its applications on a daily basis. In high school, I obtained an 800 on my SAT II Subject Test for Math 2 and a 35 on my ACT (perfect score in Math).

Usually $40/hour, but this rate also depends on the complexity of subject matter at hand.
