    My son has asked Barbara for help on two occasions. She was amazing both times. Barbara worked with him after he wrote his college essay. She advised him on grammatical errors, gave him tips about more specific wording, and reread the essay several times after his corrections. Barbara also helped my son after he wrote an essay responding to a prompt from one of his college choices. She did a phenomenal job of making my son feel confident about his writing and gently correcting his grammatical errors, as well as his many run on sentences. I love how Barbara helps, but does not change the integrity of the writing. I appreciate that she worked with my son much like I imagine a professional editor would work with an author. My son will have her number in his phone as he heads off to college.

    The first session is rapport building and determining the best learning style for a new student. I specialize in Writing, so I ask lots of questions and dig deep to make sure the student's voice comes through.  

    I have been in the Education and Training field for more than 25 years. I have taught English and Writing at the Junior High, High School, and University Levels. I have been been tutoring students privately since 2008, first with a relocation company where I taught English to International family members relocating to Houston and Singapore, and now with Tutors.Com. 

    I charge $40 per session and send an invoice through PayPal, Venmo, or Zelle. 

    After graduating from Sam Houston State University with a degree in Psychology and English, I went back to school to earn a Secondary Education Teaching Cerificate.  My first teaching job was teaching English at Huntsville High School.  

    I am certified in ESL, and have worked extensively with all ages and skill levels.
