    Frequently asked questions

I first talk with the student and their parents if the child is a minor, to discuss problem areas, goals, concerns and any learning disabilities. I like to spend the first session getting to know the student and asses the level they are at before diving into the lessons.

I have 12 years of tutoring experience, Early childhood education certification and an associates in medical billing & coding. I am attending Letourneau University with 1 year left to complete my Bachelor of science in psychology.

    $15/hr for General education

$20/hr for music education and music theory

I got involved in tutoring roughly 12 years ago. I had struggled for most of my grade school years with a math disability and the inability to keep up in class. I started with a tutor and realized then just how important one on one time is for some students needing an extra boost. I started making all A's and B's, it took a special person to teach it to me and show me that I could do math but that I learned in a different way than my teachers were teaching. The patience, kindness, and determination of that tutor made all the difference in my life. I want to share that with other students struggling in similar ways as I did.

I have worked with student aged 5-23 some of which have had ADHD, Down Syndrome, Autism, Math disabilities, Reading disabilities, and Anxiety.

Be sure that the teacher understands that some students learn at different paces, in different styles and need a little extra boost of confidence and encouragement. It is important if the student has any sort of learning disability that the teacher has worked within those areas before.

I would start by thinking about your strengths and weaknesses, what overwhelms you, what is it that you are stuck on. Is it that you can't understand the subject or is the class simply moving too fast for you?
