Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Understand what knowledge is already known and master each subsequent topic totally before moving on to the next step.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Major Math is currently a college student studying Mechanical Engineering!! (which involves a lot of Math)
How did you get started teaching?
By tutoring friends and family starting in Junior High School.
What types of students have you worked with?
A wide variety! Though every student has the potential to be a good learner.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Prepping myself and my students for upcoming exams and relaxing afterwards with exercise and a nice book.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Understand if you are able to learn simply by observing or do you need one-on-one interaction? If it is the latter, you probably shouldn't involve yourself with Professors with big crowded classrooms in huge auditoriums.
Though if you find yourself in that situation, Major Math can help you!
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Understand which parts of the problem you do and don't understand. That will give your teacher a good understanding of your current knowledge and it will give you a better understanding of what you are missing.
