Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
If possible, I like to contact the teacher of the subject we are reviewing to get an idea of the specific learning targets and goals. Then I utilize graphic organizers, practice problems, manipulatives and deep content knowledge to help my students master their goals.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I graduated in 2014 with my undergraduate degree is in Biology with a minor in Secondary Science and Math Education. In 2018, I completed my Master of Education in Curriculum & Instruction for Science Education, and in the fall of 2020, I began working on my Education Doctorate in Curriculum & Instruction or STEM Education. I'm certified in the state of Texas to teach all science subjects from grades 4-12 and all math subjects, including Algebra, from grades 4-8. I am also internationally certified to teach English as a foreign language.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Pricing depends on the subject being covered. Upper grade level content tends to require more planning before the actual tutoring time, so these courses are slightly more expensive than elementary or middle school subjects.
How did you get started teaching?
I have always known I wanted to be a teacher since I was a young lady. Teaching is my calling in life!
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with all types of students. While I teach in a suburban school district, I have worked with English Language Learners, students with learning differences or difficulties, as well as students of many different nationalities, religions, and socioeconomic statuses.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Look for someone with experience teaching the subject in a classroom setting. There is no better learning experience than teaching. After someone has taught the content, they know it.
