I have taught english and composition for three years at the college level and have tutored in ESL as well. I also have advanced degrees in english and literature and I am working on my PhD currently. Additionally, I have minors in linguistics.
I love teaching because I view teaching as collaborative; I believe the teacher learns from the student as much as the student learns from the teacher. I try to find creative and varied methods to teach writing and literature becuase all students learn differently and my goal is to reach every student where they are so they can achieve thier goals.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When starting with a new student, I firstly like to get a general sense of skill level and the goal(s) expected out of a session(s). I usually try to get a sense of a student's disposition and personality so that I can cater sessions and lesson plans to their personal needs while still ensuring they are learning the necessary skills to reach their goals.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Masters degree in English literature and am working on my PhD in English literature as well.
How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching while I was in my Master's program as part of my graduate student responsibilites, and it was teaching during my Master's degree which revealed my love for working with students.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with a variety of students ranging from college level students to adults learning English as a second or third language. My students vary in their skill levels and experience, so I am very accustomed to teaching both basic grammar and vocabulary as well as teaching college level research writing.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Students should consider talking about their goals with teachers, so a student should consider what it is they would like to walk away with from their sessions with a teacher. How do you best learn? What exactly is it that you want to learn? How do you feel about the topic and how might that influence how you learn the topic?
