Toombs English Tutoring

Hello! I am Mrs. Toombs and I am a current graduate teaching assistant and PhD student at Texas Woman's University. I have also served as a literacy intervention specialist for the Seattle Public Schools before relocating to Texas. As a life long student and professional teacher I have developed a deep respect and understanding for the efforts my students put in and hope to instill a love of learning for all of those I tutor. My passion for teaching can be described by Sir. Francis Bacon's aphorism "Knowledge is power". I believe the ability to communicate ideas and knowledge through writing is a special mode to enact this power and I am dedicated to helping young readers and writers achieve this goal. Both my professional background in sociology and my personal studies in literature and creative writing have uniquely shaped my approach to writing. Whether focusing on academic papers or creative writing projects I approach my tutoring using a creative approach that focuses on deep analysis of the subject. I have helped many students from elementary to college and beyond hone their writing and research skills to produce interesting, thoughtful, and accessible works.
