About
Experience: 9 years
Philosophy: Learning is a vital force of our lives and I want to empower as many people of all ages to discover their hidden talents.
I speak 4 languages (English, Ukrainian, Russian, German) and have experience learning English as a second language (ESL), given I once was a foreigner from Ukraine adjusting to a new culture, dialect and language as a teenager. I received my education in USA, graduating with a BA in Global Business in 2014 with an emphasis on Communication Studies and since then have volunteered with various non-profits to help children, who were once just like me, assimilate into a new world and learn a different language. I have worked as an English tutor with Reading Partners, helping students (K-12) gain literacy skills to empower their learning. Most recently, I have expanded my tutoring scope to include adults, primarily Ukrainians who have been paroled in US due to the war in Ukraine and are looking to expand their language and culture adaptation.
I take time to understand each student's needs and learning pace. I set up a goals metric to work against which allows for learning to be engaging and dynamic as well as create individualized learning assessments through which we both track progress. My own goal is for my students to gain the baseline confidence and skills necessary to continue their learning journey on their own.
