About

I have worked with children in a variety of environments and circumstances. I’ve worked at Girls Inc. of Greater Waterbury as an after school tutoring program and as a recess monitor (Spring 2013). Again in Connecticut, I worked at Hartford Magnet Trinity College Academy in an after school program, STEM ED (Academic Year 2016-2017). Part of that year I also was a participant-observer for a middle school history classroom for an Educational Studies class called Analyzing Schools to learn classroom theories of multiple intelligences at the Environmental Science Magnet School at Mary Hooker (Fall 2016). Later I found myself down the street from HMTCA as a teaching aide in an art classroom at CREC Montessori Magnet working with students grouped in ages from four to twelve (Academic Year 2017-2018). That year attended school-sanctioned workshops on the Design Thinking methods developed at Stanford University. Last year I returned to my favorite summer pass times at Camp Mystic where I returned to the Mystic Murmurs as the Lead Journalism Counselor and assisted in other activities like Fishing, Arts & Crafts, and Riflery over the courses of two terms (Summer 2019). Starting earlier that year, I helped nanny my little cousins, two girls ten and under in Denver, Colorado. I worked with them on Reading, Language Arts, Math, Science, Arts & Crafts, sports (Spring 2019-Spring 2020).

Helping students set and achieve realistic goals. Promoting creativity. Thinking critically.

    Frequently asked questions

I will begin with a verbal assessment over the areas of greatest need for quantitative and qualitative improvement.

I like to have syllabi and reading lists for each course so that I know what's coming up and how to best prepare for the future.

Please prepare me with interests, talents, gifts, and skills of each student. I like to understand their strengths and weaknesses to help make analogies.

If they understand the material well, I recommend asking about specific areas of interest and finding ways to enrich and individualize their education. Considering the history behind any subject is a must.

When students struggle with the course material, it's best to figure out the earliest point of confusion by section or chapter. If skills need improvement, ask for extra problems, resources, or other forms of enrichment.
