About
My name is Lily Whipple and I am a Senior undergraduate at Southern Methodist University. I am a Biology B.S. major with a Neuroscience minor, and I am on the pre-med track. I am passionate about Biology and received an A in both courses. Additionally, I have taken General and Organic Chemistry, Genetics, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, and Psychology. I received a 90th percentile score on my MCAT and would be happy to share any general knowledge about being pre-med as well! I tutor high school or AP Biology as well as Introductory College Biology. I am available to either come to the student or to meet at a separate location.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
To begin working with a new student, I will look at their syllabus, as well as familiarize myself with their specific textbook. I want to make sure I am teaching them the information they are required to know, without missing anything or focusing heavily on topics their class does not cover. With biology, oftentimes students cannot grasp the material simply because the way their teacher or their textbook explains it does not make sense to them. I will continually find different ways to explain the material in order for the content to stick. Biology is a puzzle! Sometimes it does not make sense until you are able to grasp every piece. I want to help the student learn in the best way they learn. That may be helping with practice problems, giving valuable memorization tips, or breaking down concepts.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a Senior undergraduate student at Southern Methodist University. I am a Biology B.S. major with a minor in Neuroscience. I received an A in both of my Introductory Biology courses, and I have also taken Genetics, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Physics, and Psychology. Additionally, I received a 90th percentile MCAT score.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Find someone who is willing to work with you to discover how you best learn. After all, what worked to get the tutor a good grade may not work for you! I love studying, and as a result, I have tried countless methods to see with works best for me, and I understand the pros and cons of each.
