About
I am an experienced and certified teacher. I have taught both English (7th-12th Grade) and Art (K-12th) for 5+ years. I currently teach English online to Chinese (5-13 year olds) children, and I am also the Area Executive and Instructor for the Dallas area 'Le Painted Grape.' In the summers I teach an afterschool ceramics camp, and I tutor students and adults of all ages as well as offer private art and writing lessons.
I have a passion for teaching. I love the art of language and I am a painter and a ceramicist myself. I have a bachelor's degree in Psychology and I use that knowledge to adapt myself to the specific learning styles of my students. I understand that not everyone learns in the same way or with the same instruction so getting to know my students is a key to modling my teaching styles to their benefit.
I was diagnosed ADHD as a teenager and so I relate to and enjoy working with students who also may struggle with ADHD, or adults with ADD. I enjoy working with students that struggle with a variety of "learning disabilities," or as I like to call them, "unique learning capabilities."
My passions for the arts and my experience in and passion for teaching keeps me motivated and excited on a dialy basis.

How did you get started teaching?
After I graduated college, I moved from Austin to Dallas to teach because of the high need for teachers in the DFW area at the time. I decided I wanted to teach after I made the tough decision that adolescent therapy was not for me.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with people of every age. Most often I work with K-12 aged students.
I have a specialty in working with students who have Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, and High Functioning Autism.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Students need to have a clear assessment of their strengths, weaknesses, current level of comprehension and thier goal comprehension (or goal outcome, etc.).
Think about which kinds of teachers have been the easiest to learn from and why is that?
