I am a lover of languages and language learning with over 30 years of tutoring experience with ages 8 to 88 and 20 years of classroom experience teaching Spanish and 4 years teaching Russian for adolescents. National Board Certified in World Languages for Adolescents and Adults. A graduate of the University of Texas in the Spanish Language with a Minor in the Russian Language with some French.
My students can boast of all levels of language proficiency and fluency after working with me.
We begin where you are and follow what some refer to as the natural method to acquire the language to whatever level you are willing to work toward.
As a simultaneous bilingual in Spanish and English, I have ample experience facing the challenges of learning new languages.
I also provide tutoring in English Language Arts and Social Studies/History for Middle School and High School students.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Meet and Greet! We identify goals and set up a plan on how to get there together.
I informally assess every student according to ACTFL Speaking proficiency guidelines in order to develop an individualized learning plan.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
21 years as a teacher of foreign languages (Russian 4 years and Spanish 21 years) and as a Spanish and ESOL tutor. National Board Certified and Texas Certified in Spanish.

$60/hr to $30/hr. Negotiable with long-term agreements.
How did you get started teaching?
Was asked to teach a course by a friend. Loved it and stuck with it for over 20 years ago.
I had been a tutor at community college and at university and continue to tutor now.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with adults and high school-aged students mostly but have worked with primary and middle school students as well.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
My family and I recently visited Wimberly, Texas to get away for the weekend. It was a super fun time spent baking, eating, and enjoying one another's company en familia.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Make sure you're going to use the language you're learning with the teacher. Some teachers teach about the language and don't actually help you acquire the language. Make it your own. Speak, speak, speak...
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What is your final goal? What do you want to sound like or be able to do in the target language?
