About
As Lead English Teacher at the Second Largest High School in Texas with over 20 years of experience in education working with ages from 4-18, I'm ready to make learning engaging and fun for all!
With over 20 years of teaching experience from the boisterous world of Pre-K to the hallowed halls of high school, I have always had a passion and enthusiasm for making learning accessible, engaging, and fun for all.
I studied English at Sam Houston State University, where I graduated with a 4.0 GPA. I have taught hundreds of students at various ages and am ready to help you master the difficulties you might be facing in English Language Arts at any level.
My teaching certification covers ELA at the secondary (middle and high school) levels, though I am prepared and experienced at early childhood development (I have an Early Childhood Development Associate's Degree) and am just as prepared to aide college and university students with their reading, writing, and analysis of great literature.
I've always thought learning can and should be fun, but it also takes hard work and dedication. I find it best to get to know students as human beings first, understanding their needs, learning styles, strengths, and weaknesses. Then, I can devise lessons best-suited to their individual needs, interests, and aspirations.
My expertise lies in writing, revising, editing, reading comprehension, rhetorical analysis, synthesis of ideas and information, and in creative a safe, engaging learning environment, whether it's online or in-person.
I love creating new methods to make learning accessible for any student, using scaffolding and supports to bolster anyone's skill-level and grow them to new heights.
I teach high school currently, but am ready to help any willing (and even unwilling!) learners with fresh perspective, respect, and compassion.
