Elementary Matters Tutoring
About
Experienced Elementary Teacher and licensed social worker who meets each student where they are academically and develops a plan for academic growth. My passion is working with grades 1-3, teaching phoenemic awareness, phonics, and nurturing a love for reading. I will also teach your child common sense math skills without the confusing and nonsensical methods being taught in the classroom today.
I enjoy watching my student's self-esteem flourish as they learn to read and comprehend what they read.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I begin with assessing your child's recongnition of letters and phonemic awareness. I then teach individual letter sounds and blends. I then build their reading skills by incorporting short reading passages to teach high frequency words, CVC words and reading fluency. As your child grows, I introduce digraphs and trigraphs, more complex reading and reading comprehension. Teaching writing along with reading is also a fundamental skill to master reading.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a bachelors and masters degree and I have taught first grade in Houston Independent School Disgtrict where my students consistently scored higher on district assessments than all other first grade classes in my school.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
My fees are $25.00 per hour. My fees are lower than other tutors because I feel strongly that parents should not have to struggle financially to have their child succeed.
