About
I am a Certified Elementary Education Teacher with 12 years teaching experience in Texas public schools
I specialize in helping children to become better readers. I can teach beginning readers as well as older students who need extra help with their reading skills.
Feel free to contact me so we can discuss your child's educational needs.
I love working with students, both individually and in small groups. I am able to instruct, guide, enrich, and encourage students. As a tutor, my goal is to help students gain confidence, understand and complete assignments, and enjoy their learning experience.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I prefer to begin talking with potential tutoring clients by email, so I can better determine if the situation is a good fit for my teaching style and skills. The next step is a phone call or a zoom meeting to talk more about specific details. I am happy to meet in person with the family ahead of our first tutoring session if that is needed for a smooth transistion. I can usually begin tutoring within a day or two of our first conversation. The first session is a get to know the student session and will include a few assessments that I will use to decide where to begin instruction.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
BS in Elementary Education from Texas State University.
MS in Curriculum and Instruction from UT Austin.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I charge $35 a hour for tutoring at my location in my home learning center in Northwest Austin. Each session is 50 minutes of instruction with a 10 minute allowance for greetings, settling in, late arrivals, and parent conferencing. Longer sessions are available for a reduced per hour charge.
I charge $35-50 an hour to tutor at your location. Price is determined by travel distance.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
There are many types of tutors available with varying degrees of experience and training. If you need a person to help with homework or reinforce basic skills, you should consider hiring a college student for $15-$20 an hour. If your child needs remediation in a particular area, especially in reading and math, you should consider hiring a teaching professional who will charge a higher rate, but deliver the results you are needing.
