Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
My first objective is to find out whether the student enjoys the topics or not. It's a different process tutoring a topic a student doesn't much care for.
After we establish this I like to give a bird's eye perspective on the topic and where it's going. Next, we dive in and get our hand's dirty looking at examples, exercises, and details.
The key to any subject is PRACTICE. The bird's eye view is extremely important but without practice the student will not know how to apply the subject.
Once mastery is established then we can repeat the process for the next subject.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been studying physics, mathematics, and chemistry (Ph.D and research level) for ~20 years. I am extremely proficient in any math/physics/statistics/chemistry subject the student might need work on.
I have published several peer-review articles in a vartiety of physics and chemistry journals and given countless scientific talks at myriad conferences and meetings.
Without getting into details, my Ph.D thesis covered experimetnal physics such as nanomaterials and laser physics but since 2012 I have been focused more on theoretical physics and mastering several mathematics subjects.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I do not have a standard pricing system. I generally charge 35$ per hour but it depends on the subjects and grade levels. Some subjects I enjoy tutoring more than others and therefore i am more flexible with my fee! :D
